I think that rather than worry about what year of TR6 you choose, more
important is the condition of the car. Check the condition of the body VERY
carefully for any signs of bodged work or surface irregularities that may
mean trouble and cost to redo. The mechanicals are usually easier(for me
anyway) to correct. Depending on your skill, budget, time, etc., will
determine whether you want a car that barely runs or is concours. Try to find
someone in your area that knows TR6's and may be willing to look over cars
with you. Most lbc'ers love to demonstrate their knowledge and usually will
be happy to help. As far as the year of car, smog controls, whether you want
your guages to point up or down, parking lights above or below the
bumper, etc., etc., are all personal choices. Join the Six-Pack club for TR6
or other clubs for the help, knowledge, and fun with your lbc.
