Information I have suggests that it is difficult in the first place to
do or get an excellent job done truing wire wheels...and that it may
just not be worth the effort. Having said that, many reputable tire
companies in the U.S. do not have the correct mandrels to properly
mount wire wheels on balancing machines...leading to incorrect
alignment on the machine and possible out of balance conditions on the
road...one would want to be certain that his/her wheel is out of true
before expending $ to correct what may simply be "out of balance" .
If necessary to resort to truing the wheel in question, I am told
(I've not used the service) that Ye Olde Wheel(e) Shoppe in Elkridge,
MD does a professional job returning wheels to shape and true. They
