The oil cooler type of adapter also has a internal 'stop' to divert the oil
into the cooler (Peter said he had his machined away) and so if you just
block the hose holes the result will be zero oil flow (not always true as
the more expensive adapters also often have a releif valve to ensure there
is oil flow if you get an obstruction in the cooler).

So answer is, not quite that simple. You could buy an oil cooler adapter,
machine out the 'stop' in such a way as you can later block off the hole
you have created, and block the oil hose connectors, however that sounds
much too complex to me. If you want to go that way, why not buy the oil
cooler adapter and have a short hose made to go from outlet to inlet, and
will not get in the way too much.
