Listers,

Thanks for the advice to use a heavier weight oil in
 the dashpots, highway acceleration improved
substantially. But alas, other concerns arise.

When driving at about 50mph, I am getting a noise,
almost like a chirping, that goes away when I tap
the brakes. Several seconds later, the noise returns.
I inspected the brakes, pads like new; however, the
two alignment pins do have some play. I am sure some is
needed so that the pads can travel unimpeded. Applied
a pin point amount of WD40 on the ends of the pins,
hope its just dry metal making the noise.

Now on the other end, with the clutch about
95% depressed (which is what i am becoming) I get an audible clunk when
shifting into gear. I recently replaced the u-joints
in the rear axles, and did not see any obvious wear
or looseness in the diff. mounts. With one side jacked up,
and when rotating the tire back and forth, I do get alot
of "play" before the tire stops. Could this be the first
signs of a differential going bad? Hope not.

Any ideas would be appreciated
