Solid State Fuel Pump

PS. I forgot to mention that I was plainning on using the electric fuel
Pump [in at the time of need] tobe installed under the bonet by passing
the manual fuel pump. Thus not needing to remove the manual [just "plug"
the input & output], & install fuel line,  fish spare wire thru
bulkhead, attach to power. 
        Question: Would that really work? To just get me home.
