*****Hey Jay, Interesting to see a Sprite message here! Though recently
buying a TR6, I have owned a 62 Sprite AN6 for many years & now it is
stripped down for restoration - with a lot of welding to do now. Sounds
like you have a great little car there, especially if your spring boxes
are not rusted out, rear suspension okay, no rusted out rocker panels,
no floor rust and doors lining up - I would say WOW!!!!

There hasn't been as much of a market for the small unibody
Sprite/Midget
cars insofar as $$$'s go. However, there seems to be slightly more
interest in the early sidecurtain Sprite as you have, and you might find
someone that would love to get the whole package you described. The
body condition and paint job may be critical to getting more $$s. Though
you may be likely to get a little more if you sold all the parts and
body separately, it would also be unfortunate that another little
classic car may be destroyed or at least anonymously distributed amongst
the Generic Spridget reconstructions.

In any case, you have some nice separate items which are sometimes hard
to
find for an AN6, while you also have the necessary upgrades (ribcase
tranny). The 1275 is a great motor and many people pop it in early
Sprites/Midgets, but the original restoration begs for your 948cc high
compression engine, with the necessary ribcase tranny upgrade, and
contd. use of the mechanical tach, mechanical fuel pump and other period
pieces. You will need the disc brakes if you go to a 1275, but not for
a 948 cc.

IMHO, I might put together as much of the original car as I could minus
smoothcase tranny, and sell it as an early classic Austin-Healey Sprite
side-curtain car with the quarter elliptic springs, mechanical tach,
fuel
pump, the old radiator version and the little but powerful 948 cc high
compression engine. I would then sell the remainding parts on the
market, though the smoothcase tranny is most likely of little value.
The hard top is most likely of great value if an actual original period
accessory for the Bug-Eye, depending on the maker - with the Healey
Company brand being the most valuable. Best of luck with your plans.
