If you don't have a real competition-rated roll bar, skip the full-harness
(upper body portion) of the belts. The theory is that you can at least "duck"
if you roll over if you aren't totally strapped in. A good alternative
(although not a "period" accessory) is a decent 3-point belt. I think,
however, a competition-style lap belt looks really great, and it is also in
keeping with the character and age of the car.

Dear Listers,

What is the prevailing attitude to seat belts in TR3 cars. I want to be as
safe as possible in my tr3 and intend to put in a full-harness belt, but
have gotten a few negative comments about period looks etc. How do the
clubs treat the presence of belts in these cars in competition, and can
anyone recommend any belt brands that fit well with the appearance of the
car?

Cheers
Dave
