Hi Brian,
When I rebuilt my H6's, I was concerned about throttle shaft clearance too. I
bought the kit and disassembled the carbs. Like you, I did notice that most
of the wear was in the shafts. When I cleaned up the carbs and assembled the
new shafts, there was virtually no excess clearance......I assembled them
that way.
I also found that you need to remove the throttle stop keeper pin from the
existing shafts, remove the stops and fit them to the new shafts. This can be
tricky since drilling a new hole for the stop pin needs to be "timed" with
the throttle plate shut position. Could this be why you think your shafts are
too long.......room for the stops?
The float bowls on my H6's had rubber "isolators" so I replaced them with the
rubber ones from the kit.
Good luck.........let me know how you make out.
