Regarding the woodstove, you better call your insurance man first!  I was 
told I had to remove mine or be dropped.   Seemed they regarded it as 
uncontrolled combustion, in other words, you couldn't shut it down on command 
and was an accident waiting to happen in a garage.  

I am facing the same decisions, and there are several people up here in WI 
with radiant floor heating that seem to like it.   I worry though about if I 
am not going to be in the building, and shut the system down it would freeze. 
  So, now I'm thinking about radiant tube heating, which is actually 
recommended for garages.    I'll let you know if I learn any more.
