Ken,
Corvairs are a lot of fun my last project was a 64 Corvair Monza 4 door
110hp. I had to sell it before it was finished when I moved for a new
job. Parts are readily available from Clarks Corvairs, and Corvair
Underground prices are a little better than working on a TR. I bought a
front end rebuild kit and brake kit from Kantor Automotive very
complete, very high quality parts much better than the big 3's parts.
All these suppiers have web sites and advertise in Hemmings. It's been 8
years since I had mine so I'm not current on whats out there for cars
and parts.
Thing to look out for
- rust in any suspension mounts
- the steering boxes are weak
- brakes are not that great unless you use modern shoes
- the only rust I had in my car was next to the rain gutter above the
rear window
- the seals for the engine are prone to drying out and then leaking but
the engine is a joy to work on it's easy for 2 people to carry a
complete engine and you can put it on a work bench to strip and rebuild
it.
- mine had a powerglide 2 speed automatic parts can be a bit of trouble
to get if they are unique to the covair trans.
- 4 speeds are much more fun to drive but are not that strong if abused
but parts are easy to get.
I used to have a photocopy of a shop manual some where in my junk pile
I'll have a look tonight for it and could mail it to you if you want it.

I tried sending this to you off list but got sent back as a bad email
address.
