Spitfire U-Joints

I have a 76 Spitfire and have removed the drive shaft.  It has an odd metal
housing around what appears to be a CV type joint at the engine end.  How do
you get it off, and does it take the normal u-joint to repair.  I do not see
a different part number for it in the Moss catalogue.
