Larry,
I appreciate your question about the trunk being locked and yes I did check
and double check. 
I have to admit that I have overlooked the obvious numerous times in the
past so it never hurts to verify them.
I have been pushing down hard on the trunk lid while whacking the lock with
my hand. 
Unfortunately I think I may be to the point of having to drill although I
will try the rubber mallet tonight just for good measure.
If I drill the lock will I be destroying impossible to replace parts?
I know the lock tumbler/barrel is readily available but what about the
backside of the lock housing?
