TR4A tranny

Listers, I'm about to install the 4 syncro 4-A tranny in my 59 T/R 3-A, my
question how many use the 4-A shift lever , the Moss U/K parts book says to
watch your knuckles, can I still use my T/R 3 and keep apperances of the "3"
rather than the curved "4A", or it wiser to use the 4-A.  Many Thanks  "FT"
