My '74 Spit harness was melted in a few spots. I traced the culprit
to the anti run-on solenoid which had shorted. (brown/red wire) This
circuit is not fused at all, FWIW.
After assessing the damage I've opted not to replace the harness.
Instead, I cut open the harness for the entire run of this wire and
replaced any sections that looked overheated. Your's though could
certainly be beyond saving. :-(

If I was going to do this I think I'd cut the old harness out but
leave all the connectors in place with perhaps an inch of the original
wire color showing for reference.
