I am currently reading the TRA's Judging and Restoration Guidelines for the
TR4/4A. Truly a fantastic read...
The section on interior trim mentions that "the passenger's seat had a
Lift-A-Dot post on the inside in the bottom frame for a support strap built
into the tonneau cover". That solves the mystery of what that strap was for
on my tonneau ;-)
Anyway, my car is without the post. Could anybody send me a picture of the
post on their car. I would prefer a picture of a late TR4 seat as my car has
such, although apparently the early (TR3 style) seats also had the
lift-a-dot post.
