Sorry you had so much difficulty with yours but good news on having some
alternative ones made.  They certainly could have been designed a bit
easier to install.  On the other hand I have installed two sets so far and
if they are warmed up generously (boiling water) they become just pliable
enough to be forced into position with a little luck and a fairly large
screwdriver.  Infact a couple of screwdrivers works best.
