Speaking of which, has anyone tried adding a snubber diode or condensor
across the solenoid points ? After a rash of failed relays, I added a
diode there, which so far (knock on wood) has worked well. Hadn't
thought about trying to add one to the points in the solenoid.

OTOH, my solenoid (which was apparently original from the 56 TR3 that
the OD came from) didn't die until just a couple of years ago, because
the point contact actually broke where it flexes.

And while we're on the subject, does anyone know of a source (or
substitute) for the rubber boot that seals the plunger ?
