Patrick :

I've had them out on my TR3, it actually wasn't all that ugly. There is a
threaded hole in the head of the original bolts, so I made up a simple
puller consisting of a length of threaded rod, some pipe, heavy flat washer
and a nut. Don't recall the thread offhand, might've been 5/16 UNF. Use
good lube on the threaded rod, and replace it and the nut before you do the
other side. Use a good grade of rod and nut, for example McMaster-Carr has
a grade B7 5/16-24 threaded rod, 3' length for under $5 that should do
nicely.

One thing that may not be obvious, the 'bolt' head has a flat on one side,
and there is a tab welded into the frame that keeps it from turning when you
tighten the nut. So, you cannot twist the bolt to loosen it without tearing
up that tab.
