Well I'll be dipped. Hasn't this got to be one of the biggest
freakin' coincidences of all time? (probably not) Sure enough, it
was the cap and rotor, probably the rotor. I put the new items on
and the thing fired up immediately. As much as I have been cranking
it lately, I was starting to get concerned that there may not be
enough battery left, but it hardly had to crank at all before it lit.

Doesn't there have to be a cause & effect link to the three problems
that appeared on December 30 and left me on the shoulder with the
hood up? A failed ignition switch, a short circuit somewhere in the
purple circuit and now a bad rotor? How could all those things
happen simultaneously but have independent causes?

I'm incredulous, and so grateful to those who suggested I check these
items. I was a skeptic, but now I'm a believer!

Now it's time to stick the Allison system back in there again
 bet
there's nothin' wrong with it!
