It's true the speedo head would be different from an original OD car, but
you would not need to change it when adding OD, unless you also changed the
rear end ratio.

Standard final drive for the TR6 was 3.70:1 for the US (carbureted), 3.45:1
elsewhere, regardless of OD.  Other ratios were available on special order,
I believe.  And if you change the final drive ratio, you'll either need to
change the speedo drive gears (as the factory did on later cars) or the
speedo head (as the factory did on earlier cars).
