Well, the question becomes under what conditions are your rpms elevated?  If
you're talking about freeway cruise, then the manifold vacuum is higher than
at idle, and the increased oil pressure means more oil available to be
sucked.

If you're talking about wide open throttle, then you're right, it's not
likely to be valve stems.  And while the PCV scenario I mentioned isn't very
likely, it's easy enough to test (by disconnecting the hose from the rocker
cover).
