Listers, I just received this e-mail from Dan Masters, this electrical kit
that Dan has made is on my T/R 3 as well as Ken Gano's, it is just hard to
explain what a great product this is, it really makes my car modern by all
electrical standards, I have 8 relays, 4 cutoffs and 10 fuses, plus 2
emergency battery cutoffs. Take a look and give Dan a shout if you need more

I have posted articles on the wiring system there, under the "electrical"
section. I have also posted the schematics for the TR 2 through 6 on this site
for any one who would like to have them. The TR2 - 4A schematics have not had
a full review yet, so they should be considered preliminary.

I will be posting information on buying the kits in the next couple of weeks,
but tentatively, it looks like I'll be offering the kits in 6 versions:
Complete replacement harnesses, and fuse/relay panels only, with three options
for each.

Option 1: Wire only (a better grade of wiring and heavier gauge than stock,
but in the correct color codes)
Option 2: complete kit of parts, but unassembled, including a precut,
pre-drilled mounting panel.
Option 3. Complete kit, fully assembled

The fuse/relay panel version will come with all the wire that enters or leaves
the panel, and all of the panel mounted components except the flashers. It
will also include the hazard switch and associated wiring.

The complete kit will include everything shown in the instruction booklet
except the flashers, cooling fan switch and indicating lamp, and fuel pump
buzzer. These items are not included because they are available locally and
are preference items. The inertia switch is not included either because it is
also a preference item, and can be taken from junkyards for a whole lot less
money than buying new.

Pricing is not yet finalized, but it look like it will be around (panel
only/complete kits) $85/$130 for the wire only, $165/$250 for wire and parts,
and $205/$300 for assembled kits. Wire and parts kits will be available in a
week or so, complete kits will be available after the first of next year. I
will post an ad for these items on my website (above) when the pricing is
finalized.

Because I'm only doing this as a favor to my LBC friends, and not as a source
of income, the kits will be sold as-is, with no warranty at all. I fear that
someone will install a kit incorrectly, burn their car down, and then sue me
for damages. I'm sure I could win the lawsuit, but I can't afford the legal
fees to do so. These kits have been designed and will be built to the best of
my ability, but buyers will just have to trust me when they buy one. I don't
recommend any one buying a kit unless they have the ability to evaluate it for
quality, correctness, and suitability for their application and to install it
correctly. If in doubt, I recommend they enlist the aid of a friend with the
requisite knowledge before installing. I would much prefer to sell parts only,
rather than assembled kits.

Wiring of the quaility that I use (type SXL cross-linked polyethylene, rated
at 125 degrees C, spiral striped) cannot be bought in small lengths, but must
be bought in rolls of 1000 feet or more, for each color. In order to build
them for my friends, I have bought over 85,000 feet of wire!  I MUST sell some
kits to recoup my cost! Once this wire is gone, there will be no more kits
offered (and if I ever get myself into anything like this again, I want you
all to come and whip my butt. You'll have to stand in line behind Christa
though, because she has already promised to do it if I haven't learned better
yet).

Earlier this year, I installed another one in Ted Lathrops TR6/Chevy 350, and
he is just delighted with it. He was amazed at how much brighter his
headlights were, with no other modifications other than the wiring kit
installation. Several of my friends are in the process of installing kits now,
so we'll see how that goes.
