I have never seen a GT6 pinion so I don't know.  I would expect it to be as
large or larger.  I don't think it is undersized, I suspect that the heat
treating process was a little inconsistant and some pinions were not
properly treated leading to random failures.  Like I said, some diff's seem
to go on forever.  My replacement differential, which came from a parts car
with who knows how many miles,is doing quite nicely, thank you.
