If you don't mind a couple hours work.......(well.........maybe 
three)......fill cracks proud with two part epoxy.......sand to contour and 
smooth.........sanding rest of bakelight..........prime and spray with 2-3 
coats of hardened 
acrylic enamel.....then buff out like you would a paint job.........(I used my 
washing machine motor buffing wheel)  you can even clear coat it if you 
like..........looks like new!!!    Did it on my '64 Ford Econoline Van about 5 
years ago (when I couldn't find another wheel, anywhere)........still looks 
great!
There's a book somewhere about how to do it.........but that worked for me!
