That would make them something-4.  The intake is slightly smaller than the bore,
so your bore is 1-1/2; and the number indicates the bore diameter in 1/8 inch
increments over 1".

Whether they are H4 or HS4 or whatever-4 depends on the design of the rest of
the carb, especially the float bowl mounting.  H4s have the float bowl as an
entirely separate casting, with rubber grommets where it fastens to the main
body.  HS4s still have the separate casting, but it's hard mounted with a
flexible line directly to the bottom of the jet.  There are other options used
on MGs, Jags, etc.
