Perhaps I spoke too soon about keeping the generator. I got it all back
together and installed, cranked it up - and no charging. Red light stays on,
ammeter doesn't move. It was charging fine when I started this project, just
making noise, and the guy that pressed the bushing in said it was fine -
don't know what he did to come to that conclusion as he was in the back
room.

I tried to field it, touched a hot lead to the F terminal, right? I did the
tests in the book - voltmeter and ammeter at the generator and on the "F"
and "D" lines at the voltage regulator and it does pass, although I can't
seem to get it up more than 13 or 14 volts (could be the cheap multimeters).
I haven't done the regulator tests yet, but that's the only other thing I
can think of.

Am I missing something obvious? Any thoughts?

 TIA,
Bob
