 Greetings List Gurus,
In my quest to improve on the TR3A rebuild, I
bought a hi-torque starter during the latest TRF sale.
Thing is, I have the following situation which I
asked about on the list a few months back:
The tranny/bellhousing is the early style which would
normally take the shorter, bullet-nosed starter that
"pushes" the gear out to meet the ring gear.
The ring gear is the later type, bolted to the
flywheel, and would normally take the later style
starter, which is too long for my bellhousing and
would "pull" the gear into the flywheel.
I bought the later hi-torque starter, which will fit
into the bellhousing, and although I haven't received
it yet I'm wondering if I'll need to unbolt the ring
gear and flip it around to match the beveled edge of
the gears with the new starter gear.....??? I'm
assuming the new starter will "push out" and therefore
not be in sync with the existing ring gear.
  Thoughts???
Thanks,
Kevin
