That sounds like a standard radiator drain valve, as opposed to the brass
1/4-turn "tap" that was original on earlier TRs.  Right ?  If so, it has
left-hand threads but screws "in" to open.  Thus you turn it
counter-clockwise to open, just like you were unscrewing a regular bolt.

Shouldn't be too bad.  And since hopefully it won't spray coolant all over
like removing the hose will, you can spend a few minutes enjoying a cold one
instead of taking a shower to wash off all the glycol.
