I drive both, about equally and almost exclusively... and am amazed that 
2 cars that share so many components can have such totally different 
character.

You didn't mention steering but that is one of the big differences in 
the feel of the car. And of course the TR4 doors give a much more solid 
feel to the cockpit.  Little things like the size and position of the 
steering wheel make for a different feel.

As for the hassle of installing the foul weather equipment... I can 
certainly get the hood(top) & side curtains on the TR3 much quicker than 
I can erect the TR4 top with that fussy front lip and the elaborate 
process of unfolding and refolding the interior trim to erect the 
hoodsticks.  That said, when it rains whilst driving either the best 
thing to do is keep moving, at least until you find a bank with a 
drive-thru bay.
