I run Valvoline full synthetic in all my cars; and I've never noticed any
increase in leakage. On one non-LBC, it actually reduced oil consumption
dramatically.
BTW, Castrol was sued a few years back because their "synthetic" was not
what the other makers consider "synthetic". Castrol argued (and won in
court) that basically anything that had been through a modern refinery
counted as "synthetic".
After several bad experiences, I refuse to put Castrol in anything.
