But the part of the bore that is  preventing the piston from coming out isn't 
the part that is a sealing  surface...I'd get some fine emery cloth and knock 
the rust/corrosion down a bit,  then pop it out with air or inertia.  Should 
help to keep the piston  unscathed.

he problem with cleaning the bore with emery cloth is holding  the piston out 
of the way. The spring is pushing the piston against the  corrosion. I can 
hold it back with a phillips screw driver but the screw driver  is now in the 
way of cleaning it out..
