Thanks to all who replied. The consensus is that a previous owner converted
the car to use a centrally located rheostat (got a panel with the larger,
D-shaped, hole). I need to decide whether to leave alone or go back to the
on-off system.

Subject: [TR] Panel switch - TR3

My 1962 TR3B has a rheostat panel switch with the two-ended arrow and
situated in the middle of the cluster. The small-mouth I got a couple of
weeks ago has the same set-up, but I thought it originally would have had a
non-adjustable panel switch (i.e. an on-off as opposed to a dimmer) and it
was at the top of the cluster (with wipers in the middle).

Can anyone tell me what the original set-up would have been in 1957?
Thanks!
