ESPN via AP (go figure, any tragedy) had the news about this incident at
Road America. It was a woman from Michigan who had been racing a Mini
for about 11 years in SCCA. T-boned in qualifying by a Camaro. The
ridiculous part was the quote from an SCCA steward who said size had
nothing to do with it. In my opinion, this is a problem with SCCA's
"Alphabet Soup" practice of putting groups of disparate cars (size, hp,
comp level, etc.) on the track together. Apparently it happens at other
tracks than the east coast ones, too.
Anyhow, it is a terrible tragedy under any circumstances.
