- What is the condition of those small rubber lines from the bottom of the fuel bowl to the carbs? You might have leaks there, just enough to reduce pressure on the floats and prevent the valve needle

- Some calipers are different widths and don't need spacers, while others do. I ran into the same thing when I installed new calipers on my '66. Check out hardware stores for the right size shim washer
