Took TD to local garage that works on my cars. They changed the oil and the car just barely ran home. Took out a plug and took it to a local parts house to get a replacement set to see if that would

Wet with what? The first thing I'd do is to get that problem fixed. WD-40 should clean and dry the inside of the cap, and if it's not cracked, the car should run better. I'm guessing the plug that's

They probably thought they'd do you a favor and clean the engine. Hence, water in the distributor cap. Really dry it out, using a hairdryer if necessary, and see if that helps. They might well have o

I think this is the cause of my problem. The front carb was leaking gasoline onto the manifold (again) and the garage guy tried to tighten it up a little and chewed up the gasket. This chewed up gask

Ed, I don't think you have it right there. WD-40 has no lubricating properties and is in fact a Water Dispersant. Jim /// /// mgs@autox.team.net mailing list /// (If they are dupes, this trailer may

Hay JR, WD-40 is a spray lubricant, AKA penetrating oil. I sure wouldn't squirt it into a distributor cap. Cheers, CR /// /// mgs@autox.team.net mailing list /// (If they are dupes, this trailer may

I was under the impression that WD-40 was not a "lubricant", but a "water displacer", and that the only things it was good for were drying caps and wires and killing black widows. Yeah, I know .... -

Mike, I don't know which distributor is in a TD, but I am going to assume that it can't be very different from a Lucas 25D. The exploded view in my Bentley's manual (MGB 62-74, Fig. B.3, p.108) shows
