Simple. The variable here is the Laycock Overdrive, which always required motor grade oil. TR boxes work fine with motor oil in the 30-50w range (20-50w is great) and as previously mentioned, it isn'

not greater, just different. ATF viscosity is about 5-10, and the additive package is very different than motor or gear oil. NOT a good idea.
