Similar has happened to me turned out the choke cables were stiff and the chokes did not open enough. In coldish weather the last 2 mm on the knob part are really needed else no coughing no nothing.

Hi Jack Without reading the article I am pretty certain that the reference to Austin does not mean Austin-Healey 3000. The heads are different. BUT the MGC and the Austin 3 litre heads are the same.
