My 72 failed state inspection when they jacked up the front end, grabbed the tires at top and bottom and wiggled the wheel. Seemed to be about 1/4 inch of play. What would cause this, the ball joint?

Tightend each nut a quarter turn and there's no play at all. The caps over the nuts already had the holes drilled for the screw, but they were too enlarged to use. Vise Grips popped them right off. T

I replaced the speedometer in my 72 with one that came in the box of parts I got with the car - it matches the tach better. The speed indicator is fine, but neither the regular or trip odometers turn

5. Starting with clutch engaged helps thrust washers? (score: 1)

6. Float chamber plug in Stromberg Carb, again (score: 1)

Took off the float chamber, and it left the plug in the carb! It does have threads on it, rather than barbs, and the threads go into the carb body, not the float chamber. Once that was off, it unscrw

Tried to start after the winter, no fuel out of the pump, has gas going in. Took off the screws holding the top on the base (about 6 screws). The pump body is full of gas. Cranking moves the piston?

Looking closely at the carb, (a single Stromberg), it looks like where the choke actuator is attached, there are several other holes around it. Might this have been an automatic choke that was remove

Any advice on removing the plug on the bottom of the float chamber? Apparently it is held in with barbs, not threads, and I wonder how to get it out without damaging it to change the O ring. TIA -- J
