A and B rear shocks are differentiated by the bend of the arm. A shock arms are 1/2" closer to the mounting plane than B. The fill plugs on both are on the lid. There is no difference in that regard

If you look closely at the rim surrounding the larger of the 2 steel plugs on each Smith's angle drive, you'll see a series of numbers. The transmission end is number BG2401/05 (not specific to B's.
