[FOT] Differential fluid Don't know Miatas all that well. Don't they use a Quaiffe-like diff? If so, it should not be running all that hot, especially compared with a true clutch diff like the Salisb

Most of the guys that run the early 1.6 cars in Spec Miata here in the southeast region have problems with the diffs. Since you can't run a diff cooler I would think you need to run the best fluid p

Well that's way too hot. Can you put on a bigger cover or modify the diff? If you set the diff up to hardly slip at all, in other words make the springs very stiff, then it won't overheat and it will

By the rules you can't modify the diff cover. They do have a finned covers.. but as far as modifications are concerned, that is all they can do. It's not so much a problem with the LSD unit, it's th

It has an inlet and an outlet and there's a short run of pipe so there's not much friction. There's lots of pumping going on inside any differential at speed. I'd guess that the connector located nea

In addition to the pumping forces provided by the spinning gears (don't those look a lot like pump impellors in there ?), convection could also play a role. Cooler oil is more dense than hot oil, so

Centrifugal pumps look exactly like a diff--a spinning impeller that slings a liquid to the outside of a case. You don't need much pressure, a pound of differential would be plenty. There are million
