They look more like Datsun 240Z drums, which are readily available. Alfin drums have more finning, are rarer, and are generally a whole lot more expensive. Shane

If I'm not mistaken, the normal late tr-3 and tr-4 drum was 9", as is the 240-Z drum. The one set of alfin drums I've seen had the fins circumferential, rather than radial as in the picture on e-bay.

I have a friend who is restoring a very original '57 TR3 he inherited from his uncle (first owner from new). This car has a set of aluminum rear drums with radial fins. Not sure if these are Triumph

So what does it take to fit the Datsun drums to a TR4? Are they a direct fit or do them have to be tweeked (machined)? Would the Triumph units have a part number or 'Stanpart' marking on them?? Jack

To fit mine to a TR6 (which I believe is the same as a TR4) the center of the drum had to be opened up a little to fit the axel flange and a part of the outside edge of the drum had to be removed to

Fair amount of machining. Center hole has to be opened up, and the lip at the rim machined away. How much the lip has to be machined appears to vary from Triumph to Triumph. For a (solid axle) TR4 w

AS I identified these as Al-Fin drums, I feel I should explain why I think they are. First off 240Z drums aren't made in 10in. The shape of the front is the same as the 10 inch Al-Fin drums that came

Dean - thanks for coming back with your expertise on this one. I have the Datsun drums on my 3 and they do not look like these - plus there is the 10" issue. I do have a question for the group - what

Yup, you are correct. The 240Z drums ar 9.035". Now I am curious. How do you get a 10" drum to fit over the stock 9" backing plate and pads? Clearly it is not going to work for stock Stanpart parts,

TR2-TR3 through TR13045 came with 10" rear drums. My TR3 race car has 10" ALFIN rear drums. The 9" rear drums came after that. Bill Dentinger

The TR3 starting with TS13046 had 11in disc in front and 10in drums in rear. They changed to 9in rear drums at TS56377. Some time during the TR4 run they changed to 10.9 front disc. The change to 9in
