My experience was that a TR4 axle under a TR3A led to problems with fender clearance. Even with reshaping the fenders and running the skinniest tires I could find at the time, the tires rubbed hard

Dave, I added 3/8 inch to each side of the TR4 axle housing and axle shafts that I have under my TR3. I, however, have big widened and flared fenders, so clearance is not an issue for my car. Sorry,
