- I am starting to think that some of these rotor failures is possible caused by the electronic ignition. The rotors sometimes dont go on and bottom out thus causing the rotor to sit against the cap. A

- If you are using a Pertronix system, you need to grind down the rotor so it sits farther down on the shaft. I have seen a few dizzy's where rotors were not taken down and there is a lot of black dust

- David is right - it's been my experience that rotor to cap clearance has been a problem when electronic ignitions are used, but not always. It seems to depend on what clearance was in the distributo
