Hey, it looks like we're both right...the gage will show how much gas you have, but it'll burn out quickly. So, take his advice, and stick to 6 volts with your 6 volt gage. Or, if you are electronica

I got a modern bottom sweep stewart warner gauge, removed the face from my old gauge by drilling out two small rivets at the bottom, and using tiny screws, screwed it to the new stewart warner gauge
