I used my original '49 216 bellhousing when I installed my 235 with a T5 tranny. I think that the only reason was to keep the rear motor mounts. You should be able to use the 235 bellhousing and ret

If memory serves me the 3 speed bell housing has a smaller hole for the input shaft than the 4 speed, however they bolt to the engine the same. Also Truck bell housings only have one large bolt hole

At first sight the orginal bellhousing from a 1967 C50 ( 292 )doesn´t seem to fit my 1969 396 because of the location of the starter..I´ve not tried yet in leak of time, but the original 292 starter
