I remember someone telling me to put them in a paint can that is partially filled with sand and take it to the local hardware/paint store and have them put it on the paint shaker. I've never tried it

to use a wire wheel saftey, use a nut welded to a piece of scrap metal and double nut it, for nuts, weld a bolt to a picece of scrap metal and double nut that. the scrap should be big enough to hold
