Newer trannies have the Tow feature since 99 only. It locks out OD and shifts quicker/harder for towing. NO, you are not to tow in OD, especiall= y not heavy loads. Did that other guy read his owner'

The "Tow" button does much more than that. The new trannies are full electronic shift from the "puter" now and they can arrange the shifts spe= eds hardness, etc depending on application and program.

I just picked up a brochure for the 2002 GMC HD pick-ups (3/4&1 ton) With the Tow/Haul option, they state you can tow in OD when the speed stabilizes. My brother in Oregon used to tow a small (21 ft)
