Hi all, I remember reading about timing with a vacume gage and it said to get the highest reading that you could and then back it off 2" and then lock down the dist. I was wondering if this is better

Why not time it by the steel in the flywheel with the octane selector set on zero? If you have access to an oscilloscope, it will show the ping pattern on the screen. Try driving as slow as you can i
