List People, Hey i just got my vizard book and after reading about using ram pipes and K&N filters to improve the performance of my 1275, I have some questions. I have 1 1/4 SUs on my 1275. 1) Is it
I met a guy recently who said that K&N no longer make the "twin" SU filter with the RAM pipes, but now only have two "single" filters without the RAM pipe. Is this for true?? chuck
I believe the ones they did make had very shallow or 'stubby' ram pipes built into the filter housing, so these were probably not 'optimal' anyway. According to Vizard's, you should prbably fit the l
So we're waiting with baited breath: Did the K&Ns improve performance?? _____________________________________________________________ Jeffrey H. Boatright, PhD Assistant Professor, Emory Eye Center,
Yes, especially if you spin high rpm. You should also change your carb needles at the same time. Call APT for info and the parts. You can use the little stub stacks as sold by APT. Vizards says that
I don't think Vizard's book 'specifically tried the K&N's with the integral 'stub' stacks, but only shows statistics for flow on varios tested stacks, and teh K&N filter separately. All his teating s

I disagree. If you look at the % gain (in Vizards book) on the different lengths of stacks. The little shorties aren't to bad at all. But a side draft Dellorto or DCOE is a bit different then the SU'

Recently, I tried to buy the K&N cast twin SU filter with the cast in stub stacks from APT. They said it was no longer available. I instead went with two single K&N filters and APT's billet stub stac
See my last posting.. short tips give better gain at high RPM (better for racing) Longer tips give better gain at lower RPM's (better for street) Since I don't 'race ' I wanted to optimize my car for
Ah, yes. Vizards's test were done on a flow bench which does not take into account the effects of inertial ramming. So there is more to length (of velocity stacks and intake manifolds) than can be me
Ok My .02 on this. I did the Vizard intake mods on a stock log manifold with stock 1.25 SUs. Big improvment. The ram pipes help a little and the ram pipes/filter set up is as much as a good used 45 D
