My PO bypassed it on my BJ8 and I haven't changed it. From what I understand, the throttle linkage relay prevents the OD from disengaging without some throttle advance. This helps stop stress on the

I put an overdrive in my standard class (no OD) BT7 10 years ago, and never installed a relay. Just match RPMs on disengagement or use the clutch. Gearshift lock-out still works. Because I don't use
